Happy New Year!

U and I escaped Tokyo for a few days - studying and onsen-ing.

Oh, and visiting Nikko Toshogu in the wee hours of the morning to ring in the new year!

Happy New Years to you and yours. Wishing you the best for 2013!

  1. Alles van die beste vir 2013, Sarah & U! That's not too difficult to follow, is it? All of the best for 2013. May it feature penquins, umeshu, dusty archives and research papers. Roughly in that order.

    I have two questions.

    1) How many millions of people were at the shrine?
    2) How freezing cold was it? (>_<)

    1. 1) Not nearly as many as I might have expected. And no obachans with elbows! (no obachans without elbows for that matter either...!) It was a fairly long line, but it was only a couple of people wide and very calm and not nearly as bad as a rush hour train!

      2) Not too bad, but then I am Canadian, and I was wearing longjohns, two pairs of socks, two layers of fleece, and gloves. But I gave U my toque and unzipped my jacket because I was too hot! ;)
