It gets worse! I just talked to U and he said somebody came and deadheaded the entire bush - including the blooms that were still blue and gorgeous! Since the person would have had to entered our garden (scaled a thigh-high enclosure) we are assuming it was the company that looks after the appartment complex - they do sporadic gardening every so often. But why they felt the need to chop off all the flowers and leave the bushius thingiemagus all scraggly, I can't fathom, unless they read my blog and figured since "The End" was here it was time to chop?!
