Yes

He asked. I said yes.

We called his family and all he had to say was that he had an announcement to make, and his mother started to squeal like a high school girl.

He's the only son and eldest, I'm an only child. This has been impatiently waited for by both sides. His mother even proposed to me - twice!

So now planning starts - when, where, what... Times two, one for each country, plus the addition of tracking down the paperwork so we can do the legal part of it all...

But I must admit I've gone all girly and can't think about paperwork when Google awaits with image searches like "engagement ring" and "wedding dress"!!

Wheeee!

    1. Thanks! I doubt we'll do a full wedding in Vancouver, we're thinking about a reception, however! And to be honest wedding planning in Japan is a lot different than Canada! If you hold it at a hotel they do everything - from renting you your dress and doing your hair to the meal and photographer. At my friend's wedding the hotel even provided rose petals for all of us to throw at the bride and groom as they left the "chapel" (a covered balcony of the hotel)...

But I will definitely turn to you for advice!!

    2. Wow, that's amazing that the hotel will do everything if you have the wedding there!! Pretty awesome actually =) Do you have some places in mind already, whether they be hotel or non-hotel locations?

    3. Yes, it is amazing, but at the same time it gives you a lot less choice as you have to go with what the hotel has (ie dress!), but it does make things a lot simpler (and since in Japan there is no tradition of having bridesmaids, having the hotel staff there to do everything for you is probably a good thing!)

We know we want to do a Shinto shrine wedding, but we have two places we are looking at, and then have to decide which hotel/wedding hall to hold the reception and to manage everything else for us...

Although I think my father is probably regretting not saying yes to a certain Egyptian omlete chef who offered 1000 camels for me a long time ago. Not only would dad have had the camels he probably would have had a gaggle of grandkids already! ;P
