Even if it did just recently get a while lot more expensive!

Changing does seem odd, but I am terribly glad for it as reciting a poem every time you look up a word in a dictionary would get really old really really quickly! A I u e o is at least easier to remember and has an order that makes sense. The news today said this weekend would be peak, and the winding road up could take 2 hours or more instead of the usual 15 or 20 minutes! Given that I'm glad we went at non peak!! It seems bizarre to change one's alphabet... Or maybe I'm missing something.Ceciliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03061122323528396071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9086689852914881504.post-78455433957875298822012-10-21T10:11:32.268+09:002012-10-21T10:11:32.268+09:00It looks so beautiful! I should have remembered it as I had read it a number of times in Classical Japanese classes but can never manage past the first two lines. It uses each of the old kana once, which is pretty amazing really.

Nope, no Toshogu. It was heartbreaking but we just couldn't hope to fit it in and get back to Tokyo at something resblig a reasonable hour. Nikko city itself isn't colourful yet, so you have a good few weeks. When are you thinking of going? I don't suppose you could finagle a Monday afternoon off work? I desperately need to go back soon!SomedaysSarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07485017469544064676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9086689852914881504.post-45486898572512397252012-10-16T09:13:04.920+09:002012-10-16T09:13:04.920+09:00"Thick slices of crusty French bread dripping..."Thick slices of crusty French bread dripping with butter ... " I'd happily skip the rice and miso soup for that, thanks! ^^

You've just reminded me that I had plans to do a Nikko trip in autumn. Heaven knows when, but I should move my butt before the crowds descend. You make it sound so idyllic.

I didn't know about the Iroha poem. Fascinating stuff, though ka ki ku ke ko is definitely easier. :)

PS: Wait. Woa. No Tōshō-gū???Ruroushahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10638258526527895171noreply@blogger.com
